Converge has parted ways with head coach Jeff Cariaso after just one conference.

Cariaso confirmed this in a lengthy social media post following a meeting with team owner Dennis Uy Monday, who personally shared the news.

“It is with utmost respect that I accept the decision of the Converge management to relieve me as the head coach of the Fiberxers,” Cariaso wrote.

Though Cariaso said he has no ill feelings about the turn of events, he said “it is always the goal of any leader to bring his men to success.”

“And I wish I had more time to get them there,” he wrote. “My only hope is that I somehow put them on the right path.”

He thanked the management and the team for the experience, adding that he is proud of what they had accomplished in just a short time.

Reports said Aldin Ayo is being tapped to fill in the shoes of Cariaso but the team has yet to release a statement.

Should this push through, it would be Ayo’s biggest break in his coaching career and would be armed with two collegiate titles in his belt—one with Letran in the NCAA in 2015 and another with La Salle in the UAAP the next year.

Ayo also coached University of Santo Tomas for three years and led the Tigers to the 2019 UAAP Finals before losing to the mighty Ateneo Eagles.
