LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Three passengers died while 28 others were injured when the jeepney they were riding fell into ravine in Baao, Camarines Sur Tuesday, August 9.
Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office (PRO)-5 spokesperson, identified two of the fatalities as Margarita Zoilo, 61; and Ester Bonita, both residents of Barangay Caranday, Baao.
The third was a 16-year-old girl from Barangay Sta. Teresa, Baao.
The injured were brought to nearby hospitals.
Initial investigation disclosed that jeepney driver Benjamin Blanquera, a municipal councilor of Baao, lost control of the vehicle while traversing the national road and plunged into a ravine in Barangay San Vicente at noon.
Police said the victims were scheduled to attend a wedding in Baao Wednesday, August 10.
Blanquera picked up them from Barangay Caranday and was transporting them to the town proper.
