Bulacan students to benefit from internship, job placement programs

Students in Bulacan province will have the chance to undergo on-the-job training (OJT) and get employed after the SM Malls in Marilao, Baliwag, and Pulilan signed Monday, Aug. 8, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Centro Escolar University (CEU) and St. Mary’s College in Baliuag for internship and job placement programs.

The partnership signaled the collaboration between the schools and SM Supermalls in areas of learning and development, and in recruitment and job placements for future graduates at the biggest retail company in the Philippines.

With the Academic Partnership Program, SM Supermalls may also provide students the opportunity to take part in the company’s internship programs.

The learning sessions in the internship programs will help students equip themselves with knowledge and skills as each session will be facilitated and delivered by a subject matter expert.

“Through SM Supermalls Academic Partnership Program with different schools, universities, and colleges, we aim to help the community through learning sessions and career opportunities that we hope will bring higher talent development and employment rate,” said lawyer Roderick J. Reyes, SM Supermalls assistant vice president for human resources.

During the MOA signing ceremony, Dr. Maria Flordeliza Anastacio, CEU vice president, shared that the recent partnership will apply across CEU campuses in Malolos, Mendiola, and Makati.

"We look forward to more enrollment, more CEU graduates rising to the ranks in the different branches of SM Supermalls," Dr. Anastacio said.

Aside from Centro Escolar University in Malolos and St. Mary’s College in Baliuag, SM Bulacan malls are set to seal their partnership with Bulacan State University and Baliuag University in the coming months.

Being a top employment generator nationwide, SM in Grand Central collaborates with Caloocan City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) Field Office, and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) for the holding of a “Mega Job Fair” on August 16.

Job vacancies for local and overseas, including SM Supermalls jobs opportunities, await Caloocan jobseekers.

The job fair will be held at the third level of SM City Grand Central from 8 to 4 pm.

With the recent partnership with CEU and St. Mary’s College, SM Supermalls hopes to contribute to the community development in the province of Bulacan through academic linkages.
