Four UST researchers speak at Indonesian public university

The Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember in Surabaya province, Indonesia accommodated four top academics from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Research Center for Social Sciences and Education (RCSSED), who shared their recent studies related to sustainability and environmental protection issues.

The public university hosted a Guest Lecture Series (GLS) on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for itsstudents in its current spring semester.

During the Series on “Practices and Policy,” RCSSED researchers and professors Moises Norman Garcia, Maria Rosario Garcia, Arlen Ancheta, and Racquel Layco presented their papers done for the NGO EcoWaste Coalition Philippines, Inc. and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Moises shared his paper on the materials balance flow of plastic pollution in Manila Bay, Ancheta discussed the findings of a study on what is called “Zero Waste Cities,” Maria Rosario Garcia expounded on her paper on sachet consumption, and Racquel Layco spoke on community-engaged research on disaster resiliency.
