P12M worth of shabu, marijuana destroyed in Davao City

Nearly P12 million worth of shabu and marijuana seized in a series of operations in Davao Region were destroyed in a show of commitment to end illegal drugs problems in the country.

PDEA Regional Office XI Director Aileen Lovitos explained that the destruction of the confiscated illegal drugs on Aug. 4, was done to erase public doubts “that there is recycling of seized illegal drugs by law enforcement agencies.’’

She commended the efforts of the local government units (LGUs), Philippine National Police (PNP), other concerned law enforcement agencies, members of the media and the community “for their untiring support in the fight against illegal drugs.’’

“This collaborative effort of the five pillars of the criminal justice system serves as a warning to all drug perpetrators that we are working hand in hand to suppress the supply of illegal drugs in our country,’’ Lovitos noted.

Certificates of recognition and appreciation were given to the partner stakeholders and to the Philippine-Japan Active Carbon Corporation for their relentless assistance in the country’s war against illegal drugs.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte riding on his all-out war campaign against illegal drugs ordered that the confiscated illegal drugs being kept as evidence against the accused drug personalities should be destroyed in ‘one week’ and should not be stolen or recycled. (Chito A. Chavez)
