Girl, 3, swept away by strong river current in Nueva Vizcaya

KASIBU, Nueva Vizcaya – A three-year-old girl went missing after she was swept away by strong river current in Barangay Alloy here Saturday, August 6.

The Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office are searching for the victim, a resident of Barangay Alloy.

Police Lt. Nikkon Magalued, information officer of the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Police Office, said the victim, with her mother and uncle, were onboard a motorcycle and they attempted to cross an overflow bridge at around 9:30 a.m.

However, due to the strong river current, they and the motorcycle were carried away.

Her uncle and mother managed to move to the river side but the victim and motorcycle were nowhere to be found.

“Medyo malakas ang agos ng tubig at pilit ng PNP, BFP, at MDRRMO na mailigtas ang bata (The river current is strong and the PNP, BFP, and MDRRMO are looking for the victim),” Magalued said.
