The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) National Capital Region (NCR) Union posted on its Facebook page on Aug. 5 a memorandum signed by Undersecretary of Finance (OUF) Annalyn Sevilla dated Aug. 4.

The said advisory outlined the processing and payment of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 cash allowance to teachers.

As stated in the advisory, DepEd said that the P5,000 cash allowance is given to classroom teachers for the “purchase of teaching supplies and materials, for internet subscription, and other communication expenses.”

DepEd added that the said allowance is also intended for the “annual medical expense” for SY 2022-2023.

In DepEd Order No. 10 s. of 2020, it was noted that the cash allowance “shall be given to entitled public school teachers not earlier than the official start of the school year.:

“In exigency of the service of the entire teaching force,” DepEd said that the P5,000 cash allowance for implementing units of DepEd which have available cash allowance “shall release/pay eligible teachers” not earlier than Aug. 22, 2022, which was announced as the first day of classes for the incoming school year.

Related to this, DepEd said that the ROs “must ensure that the allotment for the purpose shall be processed and released” to Schools Division Offices (SDOs) as soon as possible.
