More than 190 tech-voc trainees graduate in Navotas City

A total of 198 trainees completed their technical and vocational (tech-voc) courses at the Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute on Friday, Aug. 5.

Among the graduates, 12 finished and received national certification (NC) II for Shielded Metal Arc Welding; 10 for Dressmaking; 13 for Housekeeping; 16 for Massage Therapy; and 13 for Hairdressing.

There are also 15 trainees who completed the courses for Bread and Pastry Production NC II, 16 for Barista NC II, 16 for Food and Beverages NC II, 25 for Japanese Language and Culture II, 50 for Basic Korean Language and Culture, and 12 for Korean Language and Culture II (KOICA).

Mayor John Rey Tiangco encouraged the graduates to continue gaining knowledge and working on improving themselves.

“Seize the opportunity to learn. Our training centers offer various free courses. Enroll and equip yourselves with the right skills to pursue your dream career,” he said.

He also said that more employment opportunities will be available for the residents of the city when the Tanza Airport Support Services begins its operation.

“Make sure you are learning the necessary skills and proficiencies to qualify for the jobs that will soon be offered,” Tiangco added.

The NAVOTAAS Institute has four training centers that offer tech-voc courses under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) such as Automotive Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Beauty Care, Hairdressing, among others.

The training centers are open to both residents and non-residents.

Residents may study at the institute for free, while non-residents may enroll and take assessment exams for a fee, depending on the course they will take, the local government said.
