Expedite enforcement of Anti-OSAEC Law, says solon

Thus, said Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez said, as she called for the urgent implementation of the recently-lapsed-into-law Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) bill.

Now known as Republic Act (RA) 11930, the erstwhile Anti-OSAEC bill lapsed into law last Friday, July 29. Romualdez was a principal author of its House precursor, House Bill (HB) 10703.

The party-list lawmaker wants the national government to expedite the drafting of the implementing rules and regulations or IRR of the Anti-OSAEC law so that it can finally be enforced, leaving fewer children at risk.

“We owe it to every Filipino child to ensure their safety and protection both online and offline - in their schools and their homes - and to make the internet an enabling and empowering space for growth and learning. The true strength of our nation is seen in the smiles of children. The well-being, integrity and safety of our children are the most precious gift we can give them,” Romualdez said in a statement Friday, Aug. 5.
