Capiz governor orders contractor of gov’t hospital building to finish project

ILOILO CITY – Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro has ordered the contractor of an unfinished government hospital building to finish construction or face termination of contract.

A five-story structure for outpatients at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Roxas City is yet to be finished 12 years after construction started in 2010.

Castro lamented that it is taking too long for the project in Barangay Lanot to be completed.

So far, only the first of five floors has been completed. The second floor is 80 percent complete.

Castro ordered the Capiz Provincial Engineer’s Office (PEO) to give a final warning to the contractor.

If it cannot be finished by the contractor, Castro said the provincial government will find another company to finish it.

The project started during the time of former Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. It was not completed even during the time of Governors Antonio del Rosario and Esteban Evan Contreras II.
