
The Department of Health (DOH) reported a total of 104 additional cases of Omicron subvariants in the Philippines.
DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said there were 95 new BA.5 cases detected. Of these cases, 67 were from Davao Region, 25 from Soccsksargen, and one case each from Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the National Capital Region.
"Fifty-two individuals are fully vaccinated, three cases have not been vaccinated, while the vaccination status of the remaining individuals are still being verified," said Vergeire in a press briefing on Friday, Aug. 5.
Vergeire said that 83 of these cases have already recovered and five individuals are still undergoing isolation. The DOH is still checking the status of the seven others.
There were also seven individuals confirmed to have been infected with BA.4 subvariant. Five of them were from Soccsksargen and two from Davao Region.
All of them are fully vaccinated and have already recovered, said Vergeire.
Also, two cases of BA.2.12.1 were found. These individuals were from Davao Region.
"Both individuals are fully vaccinated, and are now tagged as recovered," said Vergeire.
The DOH has already recorded a total of 3,107 cases of BA.5, 104 cases of BA.4, and 174 cases of BA.2.12.1 in the Philippines.
