Ramos family grateful for gov't support in FVR wake, state burial

The family of the late president Fidel V. Ramos (FVR) has expressed its gratitude for the assistance extended by the Office of the President (OP) and other government agencies for the wake, which started Wednesday, Aug. 4.

A statement from the Ramos family said the OP and other agencies have provided support to ensure the “peaceful, orderly and safe” observance of the wake and state burial of the former president.

Ramos, the Philippines’ 12th president, died on Sunday, July 31. He was 94.

His wake is being held at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City. Ramos will be accorded a state funeral and interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Aug. 9.

“The former First Lady Amelita ‘Ming’ M. Ramos and family will be receiving current and past leaders from the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary during the wake,” the statement read.

The Ramos family has released a viewing schedule for the information and guidance of the public.

The schedule for the wake is as follows:

Thursday, Aug. 4

7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Government officials

3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Members of the Ramos Cabinet and RPDEV

5 p.m. Service/mass

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Prepared tributes

10 p.m. End of visiting hours

Friday, Aug. 5

7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the business community, and members of civil society organizations

3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Former Malacañang Press Corps, DND Press Corps, and FOCAP members

5 p.m. Service/mass

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. Prepared Tributes

10 p.m. End of visiting hours

Saturday, Aug. 6

7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Veterans, military, law enforcement, and the West Point Society

3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Rotary Club of Manila
