Mayor Sandoval, DepEd lead 'Brigada Eskwela' in Malabon City

In preparation for the opening of the face-to-face classes on Aug. 22, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval and the Department of Education in Malabon (DepEd-Malabon) led the “Brigada Eskwela 22” activity in the city on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The event, with the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral,” started with a motorcade from the DepEd-Malabon School Division Office in Barangay Longos to Malabon National High School (MNHS).

Hundreds of participants composed of officials from the school, national and local government branches, barangays and communities, as well as parents and students, joined the activity.

Sandoval and the participants clean the campus, fix and paint chairs and other equipment to make sure that all facilities in the MNHS are ready for the in-person classes.

The local government said the participants include Malabon Rep. Jaye Lacson-Noel, School Divisions-Malabon superintendent Dr. Mauro de Gulan, MNHS head Dr. Maria Victoria de Gulan, members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and different foundations.

The mayor thanked all those who actively joined the event that aimed to ensure the welfare of the students who will attend the classes.

She also presented the achievements of several public schools in the city that participated in the contest related to Brigada Eskwela in the National Capital Region last August 2.

Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide schools maintenance program that engages education stakeholders to contribute time, effort and resources in ensuring that public schools are prepared for the opening of classes, according to www.deped.gov.ph.
