First youth provincial summit in Apayao held

LUNA, Apayao – A total of 165 youth joined the three-day provincial summit of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) held in Luna Central School, Barangay Poblacion, Luna, Apayao from July 29 to July 31.

The summit with the theme ‘Pagsulong ng Nagkakaisang Kabataan Tungo sa Matatag at Maunlad na Bayan’ was organized by the police officers of Apayao PPO under the leadership of Col. Reynaldo Ogay, Jr.

The KKDAT members from the different municipalities of Apayao joined the summit where they attended lectures on the deceptive propaganda and recruitment strategies of the various communist front organizations, the ill effects of illegal drugs, and laws about the protection of the rights and welfare of the youth.

As part of the program, the participants also underwent training on first aid conducted by the personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Luna.

Further, various activities like poster & slogan making, spoken poetry competitions, and volleyball & basketball tournaments were also conducted to strengthen their relationship and reinforce the knowledge and training administered to the participants.

They also elected new sets of officers for the KKDAT chapters at the municipal and provincial levels.

Highlighting the summit was an inspirational talk given by the Provincial Director of DILG-Apayao, Engr. Max Mayer Adong, who served as the guest of honor and speaker for the program.

Adong emphasized the important roles that the youth plays in nation-building.

As part of the culminating activity, a KKDAT Got Talent and Search for Mr. & Ms. KKDAT Summit 2022 was organized which was enjoyed by the participants and organizers of the event.
