DepEd proposes a P848-billion budget for 2023

The Department of Education (DepEd) has proposed a total of P848 billion for its budget for 2023.

In a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 4, DepEd Spokesperson lawyer Michael Poa said that the “actual budget” DepEd will ask for in 2023 is P848 billion.

“We already submitted this to DBM for their clearance,” Poa said.

While the DBM set DepEd’s 2030 budget to P701 billion, Poa said that the agency remains optimistic that it will be granted the full budget it has requested.

“We are standing firm on our budget proposal because we really need this,” Po said in a mix of English and Filipino. “We will make our arguments in Congress when the time comes,” he added.

Before this, Poa reiterated DepEd’s appeal to DBM to “allow us to have the entire P848 billion.”
