Covid-19 vax morning schedule cancelled on Aug. 5 in Marikina City

The Marikina City local government announced that the scheduled Covid-19 vaccination at the Marikina Sports Center in the morning of Friday, Aug. 5, was cancelled but the afternoon schedule will push through from 1-5 p.m.

The advisory, released by the city's Public Information Office (PIO) on Thursday, Aug. 4, stated that maintenance operations will be done in the mega vaccination center.

The regular Covid-19 vaccination hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. will resume on Monday, Aug. 8.

"Kindly bear with us as we continue to improve our services for the benefit and safety of the public," the local government's statement read.

There are no Covid-19 vaccination schedules available at the Marikina Sports Center on weekends.

The local government only allows Covid-19 vaccinations for Marikina residents, persons working in Marikina, and students studying in schools located in Marikina.

The vaccination site allows walk-ins for adults.

However, walk-ins for the second booster are allowed only for immunocompromised individuals, senior citizens, and healthcare frontliners.

Walk-ins for the first booster for 12 to 17 year old is only allowed for non-immunocompromised children.

Immunocompromised children 12 to 17 years old need to proceed to a hospital, bringing their medical certificates with them. They have to be assessed by medical professionals before receiving the first booster.

Children five to 11 years old who received their first primary vaccine dose in Marikina City are the only ones allowed to receive the second dose.

The available vaccines for adult vaccination at the facility are Pfizer (first and second primary series, first and second booster), Moderna (second primary series, first and second booster), and Sinovac (first and second primary series, first booster).

Only the Pfizer vaccine is offered for the pediatric groups aged 12 to 17 (first and second primary series, first booster), and five to 11 (first and second primary series).
