GUMACA, Quezon – One-hundred ninety-eight graduating elementary, secondary, and college students were recently given cash incentive by the local government unit (LGU) for their hard work.

The incentive is based on an ordinance passed by Councilor Juancho Mercurio. “It is a form of encouragement to young students to inculcate their talent because education is the real antidote to poverty,” according to Mercurio.
Letargo recognized the efforts of the recipients who showed their abilities and intellect which reflect their capability to be good leaders and good citizens not only in their town but also in the country as well.
He encouraged them to continue excellence and perseverance in studies that bring honor to their parents and families.
“Samahan ito ng pagmamahal sa kapwa dahil ito ang tunay na tagumpay at kasiyahan (Accompany these with love for others because this is the true success and satisfaction),” Letargo said.
Grade 10 graduates were given P1,000 to P1,800; Grade 12, P1,200 to P1,800; technical-vocational livelihood, P1,200 to P1,800; summa cum laude, P3,000; magna cum laude P2,500; cum laude, P2,000; and
leadership awardee, P1,500.
