ILIGAN CITY – Independent children’s organization Save the Children Philippines, in partnership with Friends with Bajau and Barangay Tambacan here, distributed rice and sugar to the Badjao community in Purok 4, Barangay Tambacan, Tuesday, Aug. 30.

A total of 160 sacks of rice at 25 kilograms per sack and 160 packs of sugar at one kilo per pack were distributed to 160 families.
Save the Children Philippines Health and Nutrition advisor Dr. Amado Parawan said the food aid that they distributed aimed at helping ease the hunger and difficult living situation of Badjao communities living in this city.
The initiative is under the Life Changer Community Sponsorship Program that seeks to improve the lives of vulnerable and underserved communities in Mindanao.
Parawan added that a community kitchen will be conducted to teach the community how to prepare their food properly.
The community kitchen will be held for three months and will be scheduled soon, Save the Children-Iligan head Mykiel Patcho said.
