ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) said Wednesday, Aug. 31, that no house help was abducted in Estancia, Iloilo early this week.

“The allegation is not true,” said Police Senior Master Sgt. Francisco Lindero Jr. of the IPPO Public Information Office following a Facebook post that said a woman was abducted and was shared more than 700 times before being taken down.
The woman, a 20-year-old house help alias “Neneng,” initially reported to the Estancia Municipal Police Station that men forcibly took her around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.
Her mouth was allegedly covered with cloth and she was forced to ride a tricycle.
But she later retracted her story.
“She later confessed that she concocted the story to justify her absence from her workplace,” Lindero added.
The IPPO warned the public to think twice before sharing non-validated information about criminality that could create panic and fear.
“Think and investigate before you click. There’s nothing wrong with spreading a warning through your social media account to keep other people safe. But first, make sure your information is right,” said Police Col. Adrian Acollador, IPPO director.
