EPD confers excellence awards on founding anniversary 


Outstanding chief officers, uniformed personnel, and units of the Eastern Police District (EPD) were conferred with awards as the EPD celebrated its 48th founding anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 30.

The celebration was held at the EPD Multi-Purpose Hall, Romulo Building, located at Caruncho Avenue, Barangay Malinao, Pasig City.

Among the esteemed guests were Brig. Gen. Jonnel C. Estomo, the acting regional director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO); and Col. Wilson C. Asueta, the acting district director of the EPD.

They were joined by the members of the EPD command group, the chiefs-of-police of the Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan City police stations, and other offices in the force.

In line with the NCRPO's 121st Police Service Anniversary, police stations, units, and staff members are recognized for their valiant efforts and service as part of the eastern region's law enforcement team.

Mandaluyong City

The Mandaluyong CPS was honored as the Best City Police Station in the EPD.

Chief-of-Police Col. Gavin Mel Y. Unos was recognized as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Administration.

The police station also received the Unit Award for the Covid-19 Shield in 2022.

Exec. MSgt. Leopold G. Olis Jr., the chief clerk of the Station Administrative and Records Management Section (SARMS), won Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) in Administration.

Cpl. Joyce Liangna, the admin of the SARMS, won Best PNCO in Administration.

Marikina City

The Marikina CPS received the Special Unit Award for Outstanding Anti-illegal Drugs Campaign for 2022, and the Most Number of Arrested Wanted Persons.

Officer-in-Charge Col. Gershon S. Bisayas, and Fidel Draculan, the chief executive senior police officer (CESPO), received the award on behalf of the station.

Senior MSgt. Vanessa David, the chief clerk of the Station Community Affairs and Development Section (SCADS), won the Best PNCO for Operations award.

David also previously won the Best SPNCO in Administration during the NCRPO's awarding ceremony last Aug. 9.

Pasig City

The Pasig City Police Station (CPS), headed by Col. Celerino M. Sacro Jr., got the Special Unit Award for the Outstanding Anti-illegal Gambling Campaign for 2021, and the Most Number of Firearms Confiscated.

Lt. Resel E. Guevarra, the officer-in-charge of SCADS, was recognized as the Best Junior PCO for Operations.

Sub-Station 6, led by Station Commander Maj. Medel R. Rafuson, won the Best Police Sub-Station award.

San Juan City

San Juan CPS won the Safe City Award for 2022.

SSgt. Jocriz F. Briones, an operative of the CPS, won Best Junior PNCO in Operations.

EPD

Col. Benliner L. Capili, the chief of the district directorial staff of the EPD, received the Best Senior PCO for Police Operations.

The winner of Best Junior PCO for Administration was conferred to Lt. Col. Hendrix Mangaldan, the acting force commander of the District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB).

Special units were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in the following categories:

  • End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) (2022) - District Community Affairs Development Division (DCADD)
  • Anti-Criminality Operations (2022) - District Intelligence Division (DID)
  • Covid-19 Response (2022) - DMFB
  • Special Healthcare Management (2022) - District Medical and Dental Unit (DMDU)

Individuals, civil societies, and private sector stakeholders who supported and contributed to the EPD were also honored and given plaques of recognition at the event.
