PH Red Cross honors legacy of FVR

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) honored the legacy of late ex-president Fidel V. Ramos (FVR), who actively supported the organizations’ various humanitarian activities.

In a statement, the humanitarian organization shared that FVR consistently supported PRC's disaster responses, particularly during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991 and the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in 1990 that hit Cabanatuan and Baguio.

"Being a serviceman, FVR appreciated the value of blood during emergencies and had been a regular donor since 1954," PRC added.

He was an advocate of blood donation, as per PRC.

"FVR may be gone, but his humanitarian spirit will forever live on not only as a memory but as an inspiration to future generations," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.

The late ex-president was also conferred with the Gold Humanitarian Service Cross Award by PRC for this invaluable assistance and generosity to the most vulnerable.

FVR died at the Makati Medical Center on July 31, he was 94.

He was the 12th president of the Republic of the Philippines.
