Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 2, a drug suspect and seized P3.4 million worth of shabu in an operation conducted in Quezon City .
The PDEA agents passed through several crowded alleys of the depressed area along NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan at 4;15 p.m. where Kenneth Umadhay, 34, was collared while peddling shabu to an undercover agent.
Then location of the drug-bust was just a few meters away from the PDEA man office in Quezon City.
Aside from the more or less 500 grams of shabu, the PDEA team recovered a digital weighing scale, a cellular phone and buy-bust money from Umadhay.
PDEA Quezon City District Office (QCDO) officer Champ Sulit said that Umadhay was previously arrested for drug charges and continued his illegal activities catering to clients from far-flung areas to throw off his neighbors in detecting his illicit transactions.
He noted that the PDEA personnel had a difficult time in arresting the suspect as they had to negotiate narrow and crowded streets with ‘spotters’ manning specific areas to warn him of the arrival of law enforcers.
Umadhay faces charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’ (Chito A. Chavez)
