Senators have selected a new batch of chairpersons among themselves to head various committees in the 19th Congress.
Senator Mark Villar has been elected to head the Committee on Banks, Financial Institution and Currencies; Senator Bong Revilla to the Committee on Civil Service, Government Reorganization and Professional Regulation; Senator Imee Marcos to the Committee on Cooperatives; and Senator Grace Poe to the Committee on Economic Affairs.
Heading the Committee on Electoral Reforms and People's Participation is Marcos; the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Senator Cynthia Villar; and the Committee on Public Information and Mass Media, Senator Robin Padilla.
Senators Bong Go and Nancy Binay have retained their positions as chairpersons of the Committees on Sports and Tourism, respectively; while Senator JV Ejercito have gained chairmanship of the Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement.
On the other hand, Senator Sonny Angara will chair the Committee on Youth.
On July 26, the office of Majority Floor Leader Senator Joel Villanueva also released a list of chairmanships for other committees.
