BLACKPINK's Lisa sets record as first female artist to top Billboard's Hot Trending Songs

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK’s Lisa has set a new record as the first female artist to grab the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart.

Billboard released the latest chart dated Aug. 6 showing Lisa getting two slots in the top 10 Hot Trending Songs chart, which is powered by Twitter.

According to Billboard and Twitter, Lisa’s “Lalisa” garnered 1.5 million Twitter mentions from July 22 to 28 to rule the chart, up by 45 percent from its sixth place ranking last week.

“Lalisa” is the lead single of Lisa’s album of the same name that was released in September last year. It debuted at No. 84 on Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“The song’s gain can be attributed in large part to its nomination for Best K-Pop at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, announced July 26,” according to Billboard.

In addition, Lisa’s “Money” is No. 3 on the Hot Trending Songs chart.

In the latest chart, “With You” by Ha Sung-woon and BTS’ Jimin ranked second, while Seventeen’s “World” is No. 4.

BTS’ J-Hope’s Arson is No. 4 while BTS’ Jin’s “Yours” and “Super Tuna” ranked sixth and seventh, respectively.

BTS’ “Yet to Come” is No. 8 and “Forever Love” by New Suppasit and Bumkey is No. 9 followed by J-Hope’s “More” at No. 10.

“Notably, ‘Lalisa’ holds the distinction as the only song to appear on every Hot Trending Songs chart since the list’s launch – 41 weeks and counting. It debuted at No. 3 on the inaugural ranking and climbed to No. 2 four weeks ago,” according to Billboard.

The Hot Trending Songs chart is based on “music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days.”

“A weekly, 20-position version of the chart, covering activity from Friday through Thursday of each week, posts alongside Billboard‘s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday. Hot Trending Songs is unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to,” Billboard added.
