Eya Laure is looking forward to her last playing year with University of Santo Tomas come UAAP Season 85.
Laure, who hinted at the possibility of suiting up for one last time with the Golden Tigresses, officially confirmed the development to the Manila Bulletin Monday, Aug. 29, in an online exchange,
"Yes po, I'm going to play for UAAP S85 with UST," said the 23-year-old Laure, who was hailed as the league's top scorer the past season.
"I trust the system, I trust my coaches, I trust my teammates and I trust the UST Community kaya I look forward to play sa next season sa school na binuo ako kung sino ako ngayon."
After months of speculations, the former Rookie of the Year broke her silence and opted to proceed with her last playing year in the UAAP.
Laure was responsible for leading the Tigresses to a Final Four appearance in Season 84, placing third in the eliminations with a 9-5 record.
UST, however, yielded to No. 4 Ateneo in the stepladder semifinals.
After the season ended for the Tigresses, Laure was still undecided whether she will continue to play or turn professional.
After all, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers would most likely take her with open arms in the Premier Volleyball League where she had already joined last 2021, the same year that the league earned its professional status.
Still, Laure decided to stay and wanted to make her final year special along with the Thomasian community.
"I can't wait na makita yung Sea of Yellow ulit sa darating na UAAP kasi for sure yun yung pinaka mami-miss ko after I play for UST," she added.
