DOT-Reg. 2 training tour guides for Cagayan's tourism circuit in Gonzaga town

CAGAYAN – The Department of Tourism-Region 2 has been training prospective tour guides under its Eco-Tour Guides Training in preparation for Northeast Cagayan Tourism Circuit in Gonzaga town here.

With this training, tourism officials are hoping the province’s tour guides would effectively deliver quality service to tourists they are expecting to arrive for the tourism circuit which the DOT-Reg 2 has been developing.

The training started on Aug. 25 and will end on Aug. 31.

The participants of training were given practical exercises and outdoor activities which include basic ropemanship, first aid and rescue techniques, rappelling, water safety, swimming assessment, basic mountaineering, compass reading and survival techniques among others.

After the training, the participants will be certified as DOT-Accredited Tour Guides in the municipalities of Gonzaga, Santa Teresita and Buguey.

The training was facilitated by resource speakers/trainers Mr. Larry Andres, Mr. Ariel Ramos, Mr. Derick Gonzales and Mr. Genaro Cabias III.

On August 16-18, 2022, the DOT2 successfully concluded the three-day Tourism Marketing and Branding Workshop for Northeast and Northwest Cagayan.

The workshop will prepare the municipal tourism officers and other tourism stakeholders in Northeast and Northwest Cagayan on how to brand their tourism circuit and integrate the latest tourism trends and practices in destination marketing.
