Teenage boy dies as tricycle collides with truck in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A 13-year-old boy died after the tricycle he was driving collided with a truck loaded with sugarcane in Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Katilingban, Talisay City, Negros Occidental Saturday, Aug. 27.

Police withheld the name of the fatality as he was a minor.

Police Lt. Abegael Donasco, Talisay deputy chief of police, said the tricycle was ascending while the truck was on the opposite direction. However, the tricycle overlapped into the truck’s lane, causing a collision, Donasco added.

The victim fell from the tricycle and hit his head on the pavement. He passed away in a hospital. His 18-year-old passenger was unharmed.

Donasco said the victim drove the tricycle without the permission of his father.

Both parties had an initial settlement after the truck owner assured that burial assistance will be provided to the victim’s family.
