Taguig welcomed Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson, who plays for the Utah Jazz in the National Basketball Association (NBA), when he visited Tenement Court on Aug. 28.
Mayor Lani Cayetano said Clarkson’s visit to Tenement gave inspiration to kids.

“Maligaya kaming tanggapin kang muli, sampu ng iyong team at supportive family dito sa Lungsod Taguig! Salamat sa hatid mong pag-asa sa mga atleta at young dreamers (We are happy to welcome you again, your team and supportive family here in Taguig City. Thank you for the hope you gave to athletes and young dreamers),” said Cayetano of Clarkson’s third visit to the Tenement Court in Barangay Western Bicutan.
She added, “Shine brighter, JC! Continue to make our country proud! May God bless your basketball career even more!”
Clarkson went to the Tenement Court to meet young basketball players and residents, and conduct an outreach program.
He gave t-shirts, basketball shoes and signed balls to young players of the Tenement Basketball Team. A basketball clinic was also held together with other players of Gilas Pilipinas.
Young basketball players were ecstatic to meet Clarkson.
“Masaya po. Nakaka-inspire. Salamat po kasi nagpunta ‘yung sikat na basketbolista at binigyan niya kami ng mga ‘to (I am happy. It was inspiring. Thank you because a famous basketball player visited and gave us these),” said Carl Miguel Versoza.
Cayetano and Clarkson also exchanged basketball jerseys, a symbolic gesture with the aim of supporting basketball and players.
Gilas Pilipinas including Clarkson is competing in the FIBA World Cup Asia Qualifiers.
