PDEA nabs couple, cohort in Cebu City buy-bust

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a couple and another drug suspect on Saturday, Aug. 27, in a buy-bust operation in Cebu City.

Arrested were Roberto Yburan III, 32, and his wife, Maide Riza, 30, who were the subject of the operation, were collared at around 12:45 a.m. in Sitio Missionaries, Barangay Suba after receiving a tip from an informant. The third suspect, contractual Cebu City Hall employee Melvin Christ Abesa, 35, was also nabbed

An undercover agent posed as a buyer and gave the signal that the transaction was done prompting the other PDEA operatives to immediately pounce on the suspects.

The Yburan couple was the target of the operation and subject of persistent complaints from the community due to their drug-dealing ways.

Aside from the 50 grams of shabu, the PDEA 7 Regional Special Enforcement Team (RSET) confiscated the buy-bust money and a black pouch.
