Jordan Clarkson thrills fans at Tenement court

Jordan Clarkson traced his Filipino roots by coming back to the iconic Tenement court in Taguig City on Sunday morning, Aug. 28.

Just a day before joining Gilas PIlipinas in their match against Saudi Arabia in the fourth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the Utah Jazz star made time to drop by the Tenement court and gave away pairs of shoes and shirts, and also conducted a basketball clinic to the delight of hundreds of supporters.

“This is kind of where it started at. We came here the first time I visited here, now I’m just continuing my visits. Every NBA player comes here. They’re not from here — I am,” said Clarkson, who is on his third trip to the country.

The Tenement court, which he has now visited three times, was also graced by the late Kobe Bryant and LeBron James—both of them were Clarkson's former teammates in the NBA.

Clarkson, whose mother hails from Angeles, Pampanga, is eager to represent the country in the international scene, citing his commitment to the Philippines’ co-hosting of the FIBA World Cup.

The former Sixth Man of the Year with the Jazz saw action against Lebanon in a 85-81 loss last Friday, Aug 26. Clarkson had 27 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
