ILOILO CITY – Police arrested Sunday, Aug. 28, two sisters and seized from them suspected shabu valued at P13 million in a buy-bust operation in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 identified the suspects as Angie Aguilar Dumdumaya, 30, and Angielyn Aguilar Dumdumaya, 25, residents of Barangay Lantad, Silay City.
Suspects were arrested after selling shabu worth P30,000 to a police-poseur buyer. Recovered from them were two kilos of shabu valued at P13.66 million.
“Congratulations on this huge accomplishment in our campaign against illegal drugs in the region,” said Police Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director.
Intelligence reports identified the sisters as high-value individuals (HVI) in Negros Occidental.
Police Lt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental police, said they are not discounting the possibility that the contraband will be sold during the Masskara Festival here in October.
Catalogo said that the suspects were attracted to the event because there is influx of people, especially since the festival was postponed for two years due to the pandemic.
With the huge drug haul, Catalogo said they were able to prevent its possible distribution here.
Francisco said the local police are preparing security measures in time for the festival.
He said they will double the security measures to prevent the possible entry of illegal drugs during the festivity.
Francisco ordered the operating police units – the PRO-6 Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) and the Silay Component City Police Station – to “investigate deeper to know if these two have cohorts in their illegal activities.”
The Dumdumayas have been under surveillance for weeks before they were arrested.
Suspects face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
