Police record fewer crimes in Central Luzon from January to Aug. 20
CAMP OLIVAS, San Fernando City, Pampanga – Police reported Saturday, Aug. 27, an eight percent decrease in crime incidents in Central Luzon (Region 3) in the first eight months of this year.
Police Regional Office (PRO)-3 director Police Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen said that crimes in the region, especially the eight focus crimes murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, motorcycle carnapping, carnapping, and rape, from Jan. 1 to Aug. 20 went down by 1,906 or 7.56 percent.
Pasiwen said 2,346 crimes were recorded for the first eight months of the year, 57 or 2.37 percent lower than the 2,403 in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, Pasiwen warned the public against circulating false information on social media on alleged kidnappings as this causes fear.
“Your police are taking part in educating our people to be more aware of the true situation, particularly on crime matters so that they would be able to distinguish between facts and fake news,” Pasiwen sad.
Pasiwen said many crimes in the region were immediately solved, such as the killing of a teenage biker in Bulacan and the arrest of the prime suspect in the robbery with rape of a 61-year-old woman in Tarlac.
“Anchored on the program thrusts of the chief PNP, Police Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.’s Malasakit + Kaayusan + Kapayapaan = Kaunlaran, we will keep on invigorating our efforts targeting lawless elements ensuring that our communities are safer and more secure.”
Central Luzon police attributed the decrease in crimes to the continuous implementation of enhanced managing police operations.
