LPA to bring scattered rains over parts of southern Luzon

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over parts of southern Luzon within the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of a low pressure area (LPA), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday, Aug. 27.
PAGASA said areas that may experience rains because of the LPA are Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
It warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to “moderate to at times heavy rains” in these areas.
Weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the LPA may dissipate within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant as flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
