ILOILO CITY – The distribution of cash aid for indigent students by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Western Visayas Saturday, Aug. 27, was more orderly compared to last week Saturday, Aug. 20.

“It’s a big improvement. This is systematic,” said Atty. May Rago-Castillo, DSWD-6 Information Officer.
Instead of per province like the previous week, the DSWD-6 distributed the money per district of each province or by highly urbanized cities.
Only the 8,905 student-beneficiaries from Western Visayas who were scheduled via text messages or e-mail messages were served this Saturday.
“It’s per schedule basis. We didn’t accept walk-ins,” Castillo said.
Long lines of students remained but it was manageable compared to last week. There were no traffic jams or medical emergencies as of Saturday morning.
DSWD-6 allotted P35.62 million for this week’s distribution.
The biggest chunk of P12 million for 3,000 students went to Negros Occidental and Bacolod City.
DSWD-6 disbursed P8.8 million for 2,200 students in this city and Iloilo.
Capiz and its capital Roxas City had P4.008 million for 1,002 students.
DSWD-6 earmarked P4 million for 1,000 students in Aklan; P4.012 million for 1,003 students in Antique; and P2.8 million for 700 students in Guimaras.
