Team Lakay stars pick Moraes over Johnson at ONE Fight Night 1

The men of Team Lakay have spoken, and it’s pretty clear who they think will win the main event of ONE Fight Night 1: Moraes vs. Johnson II.

They expect ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes to retain his belt against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in the explosive headliner set for the morning of Saturday, August 27, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.  

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio – the last person to beat Moraes – expects his old foe to walk away with a hard earned decision win over the greatest of all time in mixed martial arts, knowing that the Brazilian continues to improve at this stage of his career.

“They’re both tough, they’re both warriors. I don’t think anyone will finish anyone,” Eustaquio said. “But as I’ve said, it’s going to be Adriano Moraes .”

Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang echoed Eustaquio’s prediction, but done so for different reasons.

“Slight edge goes to Moraes, mainly because of his experience and familiarity to ONE Championship,” Folayang said. “He’s been competing here for a long time.”

Perhaps the most extreme prediction of them all comes from their head coach, Mark Sangiao.

Sangiao agrees with both of his fighters when it comes to who will win, and he even doubled-down on his prediction.

“I’m still siding with the champion, with Moraes, and I believe it will end again via stoppage,” he said. “Either submission or via knockout.”

It’s only the #4-ranked flyweight contender Danny Kingad who didn’t explicitly predict a Moraes victory.

Kingad has fought both protagonists, and while he praised Moraes for improving since their first fight in 2017, he still can’t make his mind up on who takes the victory.

“I really don’t know what will happen in this match, but I’m sure that this will be a great fight. There will surely be differences from their last match,” he said.
