Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said Friday, Aug. 26, the local government is expanding its lot inventory to gather possible sites to build more school-related infrastructure.

"Ngayong 2022, sinimulan na rin po natin ang imbentaryo para sa mga posibleng pagtayuan ng mga school building natin (This year, we have started our inventory for possible sites for our school buildings)," he said in a speech at Maybunga Elementary School.
He noted they are actively looking into available properties in various barangays in the city.
Sotto explained they have already began lot inventory, primarily for government purposes, since the start of the pandemic in 2020 until 2021.
The mayor said school authorities told him about cramped classrooms and lack of spaces in the school campus that were observed during the opening of face-to-face classes on Monday, Aug. 22.
The local government will be constructing more school buildings in order to accommodate all students during the implementation of 100 percent face-to-face classes this coming Nov. 2.
On Friday, Aug. 26, Sotto graced the inauguration of Maybunga Elementary School's new annex building.
The four-storey building will be a service center that houses the multi-purpose rooms, and the information communication and technology (ICT) rooms.
The project was spearheaded by lone Pasig City Congressman Roman Romulo in cooperation with the local government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Sotto said there will be more programs and projects to come in the future.
He stressed the full support of the local government in providing the back-to-school necessities of schools.
"Hindi lang po ito siguro round one ng mga repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation, renovation ng mga paaralan (This will not only be one round of repairs, maintenance, rehabilitation, and renovation in our schools)," he said.
The Pasig City local government has provided school supplies and uniforms to public school students to help them resume on-site classes.
The "Malusog na Batang Pasigueño" (MBP) program that provides nutritional food packs to school children in the city is also ongoing.
Sotto also congratulated the Pasig Schools Division Office (SDO) for a peaceful and orderly first week of face-to-face classes.
Nine public elementary and high schools in the city began full face-to-face classes from Aug. 22 to Aug. 26, while 35 schools used blended learning modes.
