P7.2-M worth of humanitarian aid distributed to 'Florita'-hit regions

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units, non-government organizations, and other DSWD partners continued to provide humanitarian aid for families that were affected by severe tropical storm Florita (international name: Ma-on).
As of Aug. 26, over P7.2 million worth of humanitarian assistance was already distributed to the affected regions.
During the Laging Handa public briefing on Friday, Aug. 26, DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Romel Lopez said that Florita has affected 29,447 families or around 113,000 individuals from 558 barangays in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), National Capital Region (NCR), and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Lopez said 1,400 individuals remain in 19 temporary shelters in the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, NCR, and CAR.
Meanwhile, 1,023 individuals are staying with relatives.
He said that the DSWD-Central Office has P760 million quick response funds that are readily available for families affected by Florita.
