Four major road improvement projects to help ease perennial flood, high tide problems in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY â€“ The city government has approved four major road projects that will be implemented to address the perennial problems of massive flooding and high tide in the city.

City engineering officer-in-charge Engr. Josephine Corpuz said the program of works has been finalized and was duly approved by Mayor Belen Fernandez during a meeting of the Bids and Awards Committee on Thursday, Aug. 25.

Mayor Fernandez had previously expressed the need for road elevation as flooding brought about by heavy rains and high tide have been a perennial problem in the city.

A few days back, Fernandez had declared the suspension of classes in all levels, both in public and private, as well as work in government offices.

Flood and high tide reached more than 1.1 meters.

Included in the road improvement projects are the upgrading of plain cement concrete (PCC) pavement and drainage system in Don Proceso Bautista Road (Arco) Phase III in barangay Lucao, Zamora Street in Barangay IV, Phase II; Rivera Street in Barangay II and III, Phase IV; and Interior Road, fronting Luxor and Nel-Ars building in barangay Pantal.

The projects will also include fixing of broken or disconnected pipelines in the drainage system, and creek clearing and dredging operations.
