DOLE hires 562 solo parents in Valenzuela City

At least 562 single parents in Valenzuela City have been employed through the emergency employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) under the "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers" (TUPAD) program.

The DOLE, in coordination with the Valenzuela City government and through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), led the orientation of the beneficiaries on Thursday, August 25, at the Valenzuela City People's Park Amphitheater.

According to the labor department, the Valenzuela City government has chosen single parents to benefit from the emergency employment program to complement the sacrifices of a solo parent to raise a child.

The beneficiaries will receive a salary of P3,400 to P5,100 depending on the length of service.

The TUPAD program is a community-based emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers. The workers will be employed for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed 30 days.

Workers will be designated on their corresponding task, like in social community projects, economic community projects, or in agro-forestry community projects where recipients are sent into tree planting activities, seedling preparations, and reforestation.
