CHED chair De Vera to 'let the law take its course' in resolving charges vs sister
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairman Prospero De Vera III expressed “full support” to the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. following the arrest of his sister, Adora Faye De Vera.

On Friday, Aug. 26, De Vera issued a statement after reading in the news that his sister was arrested in Metro Manila by law enforcement authorities from Region VI.
De Vera’s sister was reportedly arrested by the police in Quezon City for her alleged link to communist groups.
“I do not share her views nor support her actions,” De Vera said as he reiterated his full support for the current administration in its efforts to end the communist insurgency that “has destroyed so many lives and property.”
“I will let the law take its course in resolving the charges against her,” De Vera said.
De Vera explained that “he has not seen” or spoken to his sister for “more than 25 years” since she decided to rejoin the underground movement.
“As a sibling, I hope and pray for her safety and good health in detention as she faces the cases filed against her,” De Vera said.
De Vera, who was appointed by former President Duterte in 2018, was reappointed by Marcos as the CHED Chairman after his term ended in July 2022.
