Ballsy Aquino shares update on sister Kris: 'All the medicines they’ve been trying haven’t been working'

Kris Aquino has been diagnosed with more autoimmune diseases.

This was shared by her eldest sister, Ballsy.

“When she left, she had two autoimmune diseases. I think now there are four,” said Ballsy in a forum organized by Banyuhay Aotearoa last Aug. 20.

Recall that Kris has three confirmed autoimmune conditions: autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and Churg Strauss syndrome, collectively known as EGPA.

She is currently seeking treatment abroad along with her sons Josh and Bimby.

“Unfortunately, they’re just still trying to give her the right treatment, the correct treatment," Ballsy shared.

“She has so many allergies, that all the medicines that they’ve been trying haven’t been working or maybe they did, but then the side effects, they were not too happy about because, as I said, she has so many allergies—from food to the plants to medicines."

Thankfully, in the past few days, Kris has been in good spirits.

"And she says that there are times - because there was a time she was really feeling that she was about to give up because she was having such a difficult time. But then, when she looks at the pictures of her sons or when she sees them, then she knows she still has to fight,” Ballsy related, adding how Josh is a "special boy," while Bimby is still minor.

“So that’s keeping her, her fighting spirit even stronger. And thanks to many prayers, thanks to your prayers," she said. "At least the fighting spirit is still there."

Ballsy revealed Kris also met a new doctor who she thinks has a team who might be able to help her.

"With the new things that have come again - because when she left, she had two autoimmune diseases, I think now there are four. With all the tests that they do in the U.S., tests that we don’t have here, maraming naglalabasan pa rin, e, pero hopefully she’ll get better," she said.

“She’s not even 90 pounds now, she’s like 85 or 86. For the other treatments that they want to try, she has to put on more weight. She has to get a little bit stronger.”
