"K-content’s growth on Twitter follows the explosive growth pattern K-pop showed. Twitter's strength, which allowed K-pop to expand its territory globally over the past few years, is expected to contribute to K-content spreading globally," she said.

Kim was invited as speaker at the summit and spoke about “The Future of K-pop & K-content.” She said that tweets related to K-content grew 546 percent over the past 10 years. She added that communities which were formed based on K-pop have now been expanded to other categories such as movies, dramas, and webtoons, leading to the globalization of K-content.

She added that K-content has gone beyond Asia and is expanding in North America, Europe, and Latin America through social media and digital platforms.

Kim said the appearance of K-pop stars such as Kim Sejeong of “Business Proposal,” Lee Junho of “The Red Sleeve,” Lee Jieun (IU) of “Broker” and Ok Taecyeon of “Hansan” led the surge in related tweets among fans around the world.

The drama “Our Beloved Summer” recorded the most number of tweets on the day BTS V's soundtrack “Christmas Tree” was released.

In addition, there was a tendency that dramas based on webtoons such as “All of Us Are Dead” and “Our Beloved Summer” led to conversations about both dramas and original webtoons.

From Jan. 1 to Aug. 18 this year, the top 10 most talked about Korean dramas on Twitter are JTBC “Snowdrop,” starring Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo; tvN’s “Twenty Five Twenty One” starring Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk; and SBS’ “Business Proposal” starring Ahn Hyo-seop, Kim Se-jeong, Kim Min-kyu and Seol In-ah.

Placing 4th to 10th are “All of Us Are Dead” (Netflix), “Our Beloved Summer” (SBS), “Semantic Error” (Watcha), “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” (ENA), “The Red Sleeve” (MBC), “Our Blues” (tvN) and “Squid Game” (Netflix).
