Pangasinan police assure protection for citizens amid white van abductions
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Police Col. Jeff Fanged, acting Pangasinan police chief, assured Thursday, Aug. 25, that lawmen are ready to protect the people amid reports of kidnappings by unidentified persons on board white vans in the province.

“It is the commitment of the PNP to protect the lives and properties of the community, provide them with an environment that is free from anxiety, and a safe place to live, work, and do business therein,” Fanged said.
Fanged said that a series of social media posts about kidnapping incidents in different parts of the province had created panic among the people but these are alleged, unverified, and unconfirmed.
The provincial police said that there are no reported kidnappings in the entire province at present.
Probers, as well as intelligence operatives, are ready and on call to validate and act promptly on any kidnapping reports, Fanged said.
He encouraged netizens to post only validated information to avoid criminal liabilities and be accused of spreading fake news.
Spreading fake news by any individual is a criminal offense under the Revised Penal Code, Fanged said.
