PENABLANCA, Cagayan – A lady cop provided temporary shelter to victims of severe tropical storm “Florita” in Barangay Sisim here Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Police Corporal Margarita Mabborang was patrolling with other members of the police in this town when she received a call from her daughter informing her that their barangay is now flooded due to heavy rains from Florita.
She told her mother that their neighbors have left their flooded homes to seek refuge elsewhere. Her mother was moved by their situation and gladly let them in their house to seek temporary shelter.
Mabborang and her colleagues, along with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, provided assistance those affected.
She provided them hot meals and dry clothes to tide them over until the storm passes.
Affected residents stayed in her home until the weather improved and Mabborang and her colleagues continued patrolling.
Meanwhile, policemen here consoled a distraught young woman while Florita was pounding this province with heavy winds and rains Tuesday.
Lawmen under the supervision of Police Major Harold Ocfemia, officer-in-charge, asked her what was boggling her mind. “Honey” told police who intently listened that she is bothered by family problems.
They advised her to appreciate life and trust God. The student regained her senses and is now back with her parents.
