The Angono, Rizal municipal government urged its residents to transition to cycling as part of its efforts at minimizing carbon emission in the city and help the people cope with the increasing prices of fuel.

Angono, Rizal Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon led around 450 cyclists on a Fun Ride during the municipality's 84th Founding Anniversary to promote what the mayor described as the "most viable alternative in going to and from their workplace."
We have already started our renewable energy program with the installation of solar panels which provides a large percentage of electricity in our town hall. Now, our target is the slow departure from our fossil-fed transportation)," Calderon said.

More than the economic and environmental aspects, the mayor hinted at promoting health through the use of bicycles and safety gears
To ensure the safety of bikers, the local government has designated bike lanes in major thoroughfares connecting other localities.
For the safety of bikers traversing the Don Mariano Santos Avenue (DOMSA) connecting Angono and the adjoining Antipolo City, a local ordinance is also in place imposing a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour and restricting trucks from using the diversion road.

Malaking bagay din para sa atin ang ehersisyo (Our main goal is to promote cycling as an alternative form of transportation in the face of the rise in gasoline prices, fare, pollution, and traffic. Cycling is also a great help in keeping us healthy through exercise)," Calderon explained.
