Seventeen's Mingyu recovers from Covid-19 in US; resumes activities

K-pop idol group Seventeen member Mingyu has recovered from Covid-19 in the US and has resumed his normal activities.

“We would like to inform you that Seventeen member Mingyu’s quarantine has concluded as of August 24 (PT),” said Pledis Entertainment in a statement.

It added, “Mingyu has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms during self-quarantine. He can resume his activities starting from August 24 (PT).”

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the fans who have shown concerns for our artists’ health. We will continue to place our highest priority on the health and safety of our artists and fully cooperate with the requests and guidelines of healthcare authorities,” it said.

Mingyu tested positive for Covid-19 in Los Angeles on Aug. 19 after member Dino was confirmed to have the virus on Aug. 16. Dino recovered from Covid-19 on Aug. 21.

According to the LA Department of Public Health, a person who tests positive for Covid-19 “must isolate for at least 5 days.”

“How long you have to isolate depends on whether you have symptoms and if you get a negative follow-up viral test on Day 5 or later. If you test on Day 5 or later, it is better to use an antigen test because NAAT /PCR tests are more likely to stay positive after you are no longer infectious,” according to its website.

It added, “Isolation can end after Day 5 ONLY if all of the following criteria are met: You have a negative COVID-19 test** that was collected on Day 5 or later and You have not had a fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine and Your symptoms are improving.”

Seventeen are currently in the US for their “Be The Sun” concert tour.
