Police Col. Roman C. Arugay turned over his office and duties as head of the Pasig City Police to its new officer-in-charge, Col. Celerino M. Sacro Jr., in a ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

The commanders, unit officers, and other members of all eight substations of the Pasig City Police Station (CPS) warmly welcomed Sacro at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Pasig City Police headquarters on C. Raymundo Avenue in Barangay Caniogan, Pasig City.
Col. Wilson C. Asueta, acting director of the Eastern Police District (EPD), served as the presiding officer of the ceremony.
Asueta was assisted by other officials of the EPD including Col. Oscar P. Jacildo, the deputy district director for administration (DDDA); Benliner L. Capili, chief of the District Directorial Staff (CDDS); Col. Alex A. Dela Cerna, chief of the District Personnel and Records Management Division (DPRMD); and Lt. Col. Jandale I. Sulit, deputy chief of the DPRMD.

The ceremony was attended by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto who was the guest of honor and speaker.
Other attendees included City Administrator Jerome U. Manzanero, Judge Danilo S. Cruz, executive judge of the city's regional trial court (RTC), and representatives of various police offices, and civil society organizations.
Sacro pledged to stand with Mayor Sotto in the "fight against illegal drugs, criminality, terrorism, and other forms of illegal activities that disturb the peace and order of our community."
He urged the men and women of the Pasig police force to continue to be guided by the principles of "malasakit, kaayusan at kapayapaan tungo sa kaunlaran ng sambayanan (compassion, order, and peace towards progress)."
Sotto welcomed Sacro to Pasig City and assured him of the local government's support in the police's future programs and initiatives under his leadership.
In a speech, Aurgay said he "will never forget his journey as the chief of police of the Pasig police."
He expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to serve the city in a capacity that he describes as a "position of major responsibility."
Arugay asked his constituents to give their full support to the new chief of police.
