Operatives from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) confiscated more than P170 million worth of alleged shabu from a man during a buy-bust operation conducted in the city on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
The DDEU identified the suspect as Rodgene Umali, 36, from Mamatid, Laguna.
Members of the DDEU, led by Lt. Roland A Vergara, Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) Special Operations Unit- NCR (SOUNCR), SOU7 (Central Visayas), Regional Intelligence Division - National Capital Region Police Office (RID-NCRPO), and QCPD Masambong Station (PS 2) launched the entrapment operation against the suspect along Roosevelt Avenue, Brgy. San Antonio at around 6:30 a.m.
Seized from the suspect were one plastic sachet of alleged shabu; 25 green tea bags containing suspected shabu; the suspect’s Nissan Terra sports utility vehicle (SUV); the buy-bust money; and a cellphone.
Police said the confiscated 25.5 kilograms of alleged illegal drugs, valued at around P173,400,000, were brought to the QCPD Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.
Umali will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
