Vic Manuel drew strength from San Miguel's heartbreaking Game 1 loss against TNT and redeemed himself after a stellar performance in Game 2 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night, Aug. 24.

Manuel did not waver and made sure to bounce back, and it only took the next match for him to deliver and make his presence felt for the Beermen.
The veteran forward did not disappoint and posted 20 points on a 10-of-19 shooting along with four rebounds in SMB's 109-100 win against TNT.
"Kasi noong Game 1 medyo nag-struggle ako e. Nag-struggle ako sa opensa ko. So 'yon, parang na-motivate ako kasi talo pa kami by buzzer beater, masakit sa'min 'yon," recalled Manuel in the post-match press conference.
In Game 1, Manuel indeed had a dismal outing after being limited to nine points only and struggled from the field on a 3-of-9 clip.
This prompted the Nueva Ecija native forward to double his effort in Game 2, and fortunately, things went his way alongside top scorers June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez, who dropped 24 points and 21 points, respectively.
Satisfied with the result, Manuel deflected the credits to his teammates and the coaching staff and cited that a total team effort enabled the Beermen to even the series at 1-1.
"Talagang pinagtrabahuhan ko talaga 'to ngayon, 'yong perfromance ko pinakita ko ngayong gabi para makuha 'tong panalo," added the 6-foot-4 forward.
"Maganda 'yong depensa ko, maganda rin 'yong lalaurin ko sa opensa. So ayun, talagang focus ako sa mga game plan na binibibigay sa amin. Kung ano 'yong magpapapanalo sa amin. Sa tingin ko nagawa naman namin nang maayos ngayong gabi."
Still, Manuel reiterated that there is still room for adjustment in the best-of-seven Finals series despite the Beermen minimizing their turnovers to 15 compared to the 19 they committed in Game 1.
"May mga mistakes pa rin pero maco-correct pa rin naman namin sa 'yon sa practice namin," he added.
Game 3 is set at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Friday, Aug. 26, at 5:45 p.m.
