A 13-year-old girl foiled an attempt by three unidentified men on board a white van to abduct her by shouting for help in Barangay 162, Caloocan City on Tuesday, Aug. 23.
Maj. Brian Ramirez, Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) Sub-station 6 (SS6) commander, told Manila Bulletin on Wednesday, Aug. 24, that they are still verifying the details with the victim who will be turned over to the CCPS Women’s Desk.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Brgy. 162 said the incident happened around 2 - 2:30 p.m.
It added that the victim was reportedly on her way home from school when she noticed a white van parked in front of Del Rey Village 3. Three men emerged from the van and tried to abduct her.
The victim said she shouted for help until. A tricycle driver heeded her shout for help and brought her home.
“Ang pamunuan ng Barangay 162 ay nakikiusap sa tumulong na tricycle driver upang masagip ang bata, na makipag ugnayan sa aming himpilan upang magkaroon ng lead hinggil sa nasabing insidente (The leaders of Barangay 162 are calling on the tricycle driver who helped save the child to contact our office to have a lead regarding the said incident,” the Barangay 162 officials said in a Facebook post.
Ramirez said the minor will undergo counseling.
“Pinapaimbestigahan ko pa sa sub-station commander yung pangyayari at nagpapabacktrack ako sa mga CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage doon sa area para maibangga doon sa sinasabi ng victim (I instructed the sub-station commander to investigate the incident and we are backtracking the CCTV (closed-circuit television) footage in the area so that we can confirm what the victim is saying,” CCPS Chief Col. Samuel Mina said.
